The creators of Scrabble crosswords game have asked Facebook social network administrators to remove its Web application Scrabulous, an
online unauthorized adaptation of one of its most popular products. owner of Scrabble around the world is Mattel, but Hasbro is responsible for addressing Facebook the request to remove the game, which owns the rights in the USA and Canada.
Adapting online board game is very popular among Internet users "Mattel
values its intellectual property and actively protect their brands," says the company in a statement. The truth is that the adaptation of the game is one of the most popular applications for Facebook.
As reported by Hitwise analysis company,
the online app Scrabulous receives visits twice that of Scrabble when Internet users look for the official name of the game in a search engine.

more than half a million people are habitual users.
As the table below illustrates, four of the top search terms sending traffic to Scrabulous.com contain the word “scrabble”, with 53% of searches for “online scrabble” going to Scrabulous.

Scrabulous is not just a Facebook application, but can also be played via the company’s website. Interest has continued to grow, with visits to the website increasing 11-fold over the last year. Almost 40% of visitors to the website are over 55, with a skew towards women players.
